Sales Engineer II Sales Engineers are the primary technical resource for the Outside Sales team. Sales Engineers are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the Sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products to develop account-gaining strategies. The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. This individual is responsible for maintaining product standards and understanding product capability gaps or functionality to define ways to handle using partners, product enhancements, etc.                        

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:                                             

  • Responsible for development and delivery of product and service quotes to the EDTS Sales team
  • May attend client and prospect meetings to facilitate successfully closing the sale
  • Collaborate with EDTS Sales team members to understand customer requirements, promote the sale of company products, and provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education
  • Consult with customers and lead engineers to assess equipment needs and determine system requirements. Plan and modify product configurations and quotes to meet customer needs with the ability to convey those requirements to the Sales team
  • Write technical documentation for products; document internal technical processes and procedures
  • Develop Scope Of Work (SOW) and labor standards for internal quoting purposes
  • Serve as liaison with other departments in the company to understand technical expertise for supporting the Sales Team
  • Keep informed on industry news and trends, products, services, competitors, relevant information about legacy, existing, and emerging technologies, and the latest product-line developments
  • Attend trade shows and seminars to promote products or to learn about industry developments
  • Preform technical presentations that demonstrate how products and services can benefit and meet client or prospects needs
  • Evaluate products and solutions for prospects and client needs
  • Identify areas of concern for network security audits
  • Identify network remediation items
  • Prepare IT roadmaps and budgetary information for future planning
  • Hands on participation with project implementation and management

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend weekly sales meetings and ensure sales opportunities are compliant with company policy
  • Assist with sales projects and provide cross functional assistance to other departments when needed
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the service catalog and how it relates to customer's needs
  • Enter time and expenses into the PSA as activities, service tickets, or project tickets as it occurs.
  • Understand processes in the PSA by completing assigned training materials and blueprints.
  • Review IT publications and online materials to remain up-to-date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years technical experience
  • Attainment of (2) or more of the following certifications may be substituted for technical experience:
    • MCTS
    • MCP
    • MCSE
    • CCNP
    • CCIE
  • A+ Certification
  • Network+ Certification
  • Must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process
  • Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to efficiently present to customers, prospects, and employees
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in designing virtual infrastructures
  • Ability to conduct network security assessments by reviewing existing infrastructure, systems and applications to identify critical security vulnerabilities within a client network
  • Ability to balance strategic and tactical responsibilities; exercise independent judgment and initiative with modest supervision; ability to work effectively under pressure and in time-sensitive situations; proven track record of meeting deadlines and goals; passion for owning projects from start to finish; aptitude to coordinate multiple projects and complex projects simultaneously; customer-focused; entrepreneurial, professional, passionate, independent, analytical, hard charging and self-motivated
  • Must be open to limited travel as needed
  • Mentor individuals in the Sales Engineer I position

 Preferred Skills:

  • Experience and familiarity of major vendor products such as Dell, Lenovo, WatchGuard and Cisco
  • Professional certifications including VMWare Technical Sales professional, WatchGuard Technical Certification, MCP, and MCTS
  • Demonstrate competence with MS Office suite, quoting applications, and PSA. Knowledge and experience with hardware manufacturers such as Dell, Lenovo and WatchGuard; software vendors and applications such as Veeam, Virtualization, hosted email services, backup and disaster recovery solutions, Microsoft software/operating systems, and Macintosh software/operating systems
